Quality Standardsvital good manufacturing standards

GMP Quality Standards are concerned with:

  • Production standards
  • Quality control

Are all supplements manufactured according to GMP quality standards?

  • No. In South Africa, supplements are manufactured according to pharmaceutical quality GMP standards on a voluntary basis only.  Implementation of quality standards is therefore the responsibility of the manufacturer.
  • Vital Health Foods products are manufactured according to international pharmaceutical quality standards, since Vital Health Foods is a registered pharmaceutical manufacturer. The Vital factory and laboratory is audited locally by the Medicines Control Council (MCC) and internationally by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

GMP Quality Requires:

  • Sourcing of the finest quality raw materials
  • Testing of ingredients to comply with quality specifications
  • Full traceability of ingredients and packaging materials used in all batches of a product
  • Retention samples for future examination of product batches
  • Release of a product for sale only after quality inspection and approval
  • Suitably designed pharmaceutical production facilities
  • Trained personnel, ranging from pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, chemists, food scientists, engineers, dieticians and food technologists

Shelflife Guarantee:

Vital products are tested to ensure that nutrient levels are at their optimum according to the product label claims, even at the end of the product’s shelf-life.

Safety Guarantee:

Each batch of every ingredient used in Vital supplements is tested to ensure safety to the consumer. As an example, fish and plant oils used in products such as Vital Omega 3 & 6 Concentrate, are tested for the presence of pesticides and harmful heavy metals such as mercury and lead, to ensure safe supplements for our consumers.

Evidence Based Formulations

Vital products are formulated by a highly qualified team of pharmacists, chemists, scientists and dieticians. Product formulations include ingredients of which the health benefits are based on scientific research.

Vital Health Foods is committed to set and improve manufacturing standards within the nutritional supplement industry.

British Retail Consortium

Vital Health Foods has certification from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) to meet the Global Standard for Food Safety. In order to comply, Vital Health Foods has detailed specifications for all manufacturing processes, a risk-assessed programme for product examination, testing or analysis and customer complaints are monitored, investigated and followed up on. In essence, the BRC certification incorporates HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), as well as the ISO 22 000 Standard (Food Safety Management System).
